Containers & QR Codes

Two ways: scan a new code from the Scan tab and SnapFind will create a container with that code already attached, or open an existing container and tap the Assign QR Code button at the top.

If the code belongs to a container, its contents slide up right there over the camera — the name and a grid of everything inside — so you can keep scanning box after box without the app taking you anywhere. Tap Open Container for the full view, or Add Items to start adding. If it's a fresh, unassigned code, SnapFind offers to create a new container for it instead. Either way it's the fastest answer to 'what's in this box?'

Open the container and tap the QR code label at the top — you'll find the Unassign QR Code button underneath. If a sticker gets damaged, just unassign it and assign a new one; your items and container are never affected.

Settings > Buy QR Codes gives you two options: durable pre-printed sticker sets shipped from Amazon, or digital QR code packs you can download instantly and print at home. Any unassigned SnapFind code works with any container.

A public container can be viewed by anyone who scans its QR code with their phone camera — no app or account needed. It's read-only for viewers and only you can edit it. Great for letting family check what's in a box without opening it. To enable it, edit the container and toggle on the public switch (visible once the container has a QR code).

Long-press the container and choose its new space. The container and everything in it move together.

Open the container, tap the edit button in the top-right, then tap the container's photo to add or replace it.

Every SnapFind QR code is unique. Each code has a letter prefix followed by its number, and no two codes are ever the same — whether they're numbered 1–48 or 49–96. You can mix codes from different packs freely without them ever clashing.

When AI scans an item it also estimates how much space that item takes up. SnapFind adds those up and compares them to the container's size, then shows a fullness ring and a percentage on the container. Two things need to be in place: the container needs a size on file, and most of the items inside need a size estimate — until then you'll see an "Add container size" hint or a note that the reading is low. It's free on every plan.

Four ways, and you rarely have to type anything. Take a photo of the container and SnapFind estimates the size for you. Scan the barcode on a store-bought tote and it fills in the real product size. Drag the size slider — a picture morphs from a pouch up to a storage trunk so you can match what you're holding. Or tap the number and type the exact size printed on the lid. To change it later, open the container, tap edit, and use the Size row.

Yes — and the printed label is the better target. When you create a new container, use the Scan tab, point your camera at the label on the bin and hold steady; SnapFind takes the photo on its own and reads the brand, size and name straight off it. That's why store-brand totes work too, even the ones no barcode database has ever heard of. Nothing gets filled in until you tap Use this, and you can adjust anything or set the size by hand instead.

Tap the percentage badge on the container and drag the ring to how full it actually looks. SnapFind remembers the correction for that container only and keeps updating as you add and remove items — it never changes the sizes on your items. If the correction is very large, that's usually a sign the container's size is wrong, and we'll offer to fix that instead. You can always reset to our estimate. If a container has no size at all, you can still drag the ring to set fullness by hand.

Yes, two ways. To hide it for one container, open the container, tap edit, and choose the opt-out on the Size row — that's reversible any time. To turn off size and weight estimates everywhere, go to Settings > AI Settings and switch off "Size & weight estimates".

When you create a container, pick one of three looks: Bin gives you a shelf of container designs to swipe through — including any container you already own, so a second tote of the same kind is one tap. Icon pairs an emoji with a short label. Photo uses a picture you take of the real thing. You can change the look later by opening the container and tapping edit.

No. Leave a new container on Auto and it names itself from whatever you put inside — add a few items and a name appears. Prefer your own? Tap Name it and type one, and SnapFind will leave it alone from then on.

Container stickers carry one unique code, like XNF01, and belong to a container for good — scan one and it opens that exact container every time. Moving kit labels are pre-printed with a room and number, like Kitchen 7, and are meant for boxes you pack, move and unpack; scanning one opens that box in your move or creates it, then you peel the label off afterwards. Moving house? Most people use both. Settings > Buy QR Codes has a side-by-side comparison.

That's what the Scan tab is for. Point it at a container's code and brackets lock on, then a panel slides up listing what's inside — you stay on the camera the whole time, so hunting through a stack of bins is one swipe each. Already-seen codes stay quiet while you're still aimed at them; aim away and back to bring one up again, or tap the badge on the code to reopen it.

For everything at once, Settings > Your Data > Reprint QR Codes builds a printable PDF of every code assigned to your containers, each labeled with its container's name — print the sheet and cut out the one you need. Either way, stick the fresh label over the worn one: a container's code never changes, so the new printout scans exactly like the original sticker.

Yes. SnapFind estimates weight from what's inside, but a scale beats an estimate: open the container, tap the weight, put the packed container on a scale, and enter the real number. From then on your weigh-in is the baseline, and SnapFind adjusts it as items come and go — great for keeping moving boxes liftable and shipping costs predictable.

Yes — a container's code is yours to reuse as many times as you like, and plenty of people put it on the lid, the front and the side so there's always one facing out. Every copy scans to the same container. For duplicates of a single container, open it and tap the QR code at the top of its detail page, then print or share that label as many times as you need. To do the whole collection at once, use Settings > Your Data > Reprint QR Codes and print the PDF more than once, or set the number of copies in your printer's dialog.

From then on, scanning it opens that container. Any QR code works as long as it's unique to you: label maker stickers, codes from another app, ones you printed yourself. Your own codes only work in your account; SnapFind labels are unique worldwide, open in any phone camera without the app, and work for everyone you share a space with. If your plan ends, linked codes are saved and start working again when you come back to Pro.
