Privacy Policy

SnapFind is a home inventory app. You take photos of your belongings, AI names and categorizes them, and you get a searchable record of what you own and where it is. That only works if we handle some genuinely personal material — pictures of the inside of your home and a list of the things in it. This policy explains what we collect, how it is used, and how to get rid of it.
SnapFind is operated by MEGAROOSTER, LLC, 90 State St Ste 700, Albany, New York 12207-1707, United States ("SnapFind", "we", "us"). This policy covers the SnapFind mobile app, the SnapFind App Clip, and www.snapfind.app including the web dashboard.
The short version
- Your photos and your inventory belong to you. We do not sell them, rent them, or hand them to advertisers.
- We do not use your photos or items to train AI models, and our AI providers do not train on them either.
- Photos and item text are analyzed by AI so the app can tell a drill from a blender. That processing happens on our behalf, under contract.
- Your inventory is stored on secure cloud servers in the United States so it syncs across your devices.
- No GPS or location tracking, no access to your contacts, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of you across other apps or websites.
- Delete your account in Settings and your items, photos, and search data are deleted automatically.
What We Collect
The inventory you create
This is the heart of the app, and most of it is content you deliberately put there:
- Photos of your items, containers, spaces, and product labels — taken with the camera or picked from your photo library.
- Item details — names, descriptions, categories, quantities, estimated values, brands, model numbers, tags, notes, custom fields you define, and whether an item is checked out.
- Organization — the names of your spaces, containers, and locations, container sizes and fullness, and which QR code is stuck to which container.
- Scans — QR codes and product barcodes you scan, and text read from labels.
- Voice input — when you dictate an item, your speech is converted to text using your device’s built-in speech recognition. We store the resulting text, not the audio.
- Mode data — Moving mode boxes and move dates, Declutter mode sell/toss decisions, and sale listings you generate.
Account information
- Email address, and a password if you sign up with email. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider — we never see or store them ourselves.
- Sign in with Apple or Google — we receive your name and email from the provider. If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we only ever see the relay address.
- Anonymous sessions. You can try SnapFind during onboarding before creating an account. That trial data is tied to an anonymous ID and becomes part of your account if you sign up.
- Preferences — theme, measurement units, language, notification and reminder settings, and which AI fields you have turned on or off.
Purchases
- Subscriptions and passes are billed by the App Store or Google Play. We receive subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction identifiers. We never receive your card number.
- Offers and paywalls are chosen using an anonymized app user ID and basic device and app-version information.
- QR label packs bought on our website are handled by a payment processor that collects your email and payment details directly. We receive the order and the email address so we can deliver your download.
Usage and diagnostics
- Product analytics — which screens and features you use, milestones like adding your first item, device model, operating system, app version, language, and how you first found SnapFind. Events are keyed to your account ID, not to your name or your item photos.
- Crash reports — stack traces, device state, and a breadcrumb trail of the actions that led to a crash. Enabled in released builds only.
- AI usage counters — how many AI scans you have used, so we can apply plan limits.
Notifications and support
- Push token — if you allow notifications, we store a push token so we can send reminders about checked-out items and important account messages.
- Support chats — messages you send in the in-app Help sheet, plus any screenshots you attach. Support conversations may be reviewed by us and used to improve our help content.
- Feedback, feature requests, and reviews — what you write, and your account ID so we can follow up.
- Website forms — the contact and business inquiry forms collect the name, email, and message you type, and are protected by anti-spam verification.
- Phone number — only if you explicitly opt in to SMS on our website. We use it for the messages you asked for. We never sell phone numbers, and message consent is never shared with third parties for marketing.
Website data
Our website uses essential cookies to keep you signed in to the web dashboard and to remember preferences like theme. We also record page views so we know which pages people find useful. We do not run advertising pixels, ad networks, or cross-site tracking on snapfind.app.
What We Do Not Collect
- No GPS or location tracking. The “Locations” feature is just labels you type, such as “Home” or “Storage Unit” — it does not read your device location.
- No contacts, calendar, or health data. You invite collaborators by sending them a link, not by us reading your address book.
- No advertising identifiers and no App Tracking Transparency prompt — because we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- No microphone recording in the background. The microphone is used only while you are actively dictating.
- No sale of personal information. Ever.
How AI Works With Your Photos and Items
This is the part most people want to understand, so here it is plainly.
- Item recognition. When you photograph an item, the photo is sent to our AI provider, which returns a suggested name, category, description, estimated value, and similar fields. That provider processes the photo on our behalf under contract and does not use it to train its models.
- Search and suggestions. We convert the text about an item — things like its name and category — into a numerical representation used for search. It is kept private to your account and powers Smart Search, duplicate detection, container suggestions, and scan-to-return. Your photos are not part of that search index.
- Barcode lookups. When you scan a product barcode, we send only the barcode number to public product databases to identify the product. Your photos, your account, and your inventory are not included.
- Label reading. Reading text off a label happens on your device. Nothing leaves your phone for that step.
- AI help answers. When you ask the in-app assistant a question, your question and relevant help-center articles are used to compose an answer. We review anonymized questions to find gaps in our documentation.
- Training. We do not use your photos, items, or messages to train AI models, and our AI providers process this data on our behalf without training on it.
- Your control. Settings → AI & Automation lets you turn off individual AI-filled fields and enter them yourself.
How We Use Your Data
- To run the app — store your inventory, sync it across your devices and the web dashboard, generate thumbnails, and let you search.
- To provide AI features — recognizing items, suggesting containers, spotting duplicates, generating listings and insurance reports.
- To manage your account and plan — authentication, subscription entitlements, and usage limits.
- To send you things you asked for — reminders about checked-out items, invitation and collaboration notices, and replies to support requests.
- To fix and improve SnapFind — diagnosing crashes, understanding which features are used, and prioritizing what to build.
- To tell you about SnapFind — occasional product emails and, if you opted in, SMS. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep the service safe and lawful — preventing abuse, enforcing our terms, and complying with legal obligations.
Sharing a Space With Other People
SnapFind lets you invite other people into a space you own. When you do:
- Collaborators can see and edit the containers, items, photos, and details inside the spaces you shared with them — and nothing outside those spaces.
- Members of a shared space can see each other's display name and email address in the member list.
- The owner can remove a collaborator at any time, which immediately revokes their access to that space.
- Anyone holding an invite link can join that space until the invite is revoked or expires, so only share invite links with people you trust.
QR Codes, Public Pages, and the App Clip
- Container QR codes. Scanning a SnapFind QR code opens the matching container in your app. A code that has not been linked to a container shows nothing about anyone.
- Public container pages. A container’s contents are only viewable on the web by someone scanning its code if you have explicitly marked that container public. Everything else returns nothing.
- The App Clip. Scanning the QR code on our packaging can open a small demo that analyzes one photo before you install anything. That photo is not attached to any account and is not stored by us. We apply rate limiting to that feature to prevent abuse.
Who We Share Data With
We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes described in this policy — and only the data each one needs to do its job. Those providers fall into these categories:
- Cloud hosting and storage — running the database, photo storage, authentication, and backend that make up SnapFind.
- AI providers — item recognition, search, listing and report generation, and in-app help answers.
- App stores and payment processors — subscriptions, in-app purchases, and website orders.
- Analytics and crash reporting — understanding usage and diagnosing problems.
- Communications — delivering push notifications, transactional email, and SMS you opted in to.
- Product databases — identifying a product from a barcode number.
We may also disclose information if required by law or a valid legal request, to investigate abuse or protect the rights and safety of our users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — in which case we will give notice before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is processed and stored on servers in the United States. If you use SnapFind from outside the US, you are transferring your information to the US, where data protection law may differ from your own. For users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards with our providers.
How Long We Keep It
Your inventory stays until you delete it or delete your account — an inventory that silently expires would be worse than useless. Deleted items and photos are removed from our live systems promptly and may persist in encrypted backups for a short period before those backups roll over. We keep purchase and tax records, and support correspondence, for as long as the law requires. Aggregated analytics that can no longer be linked to you may be retained indefinitely.
Deleting Your Data
- Individual items, containers, and spaces can be deleted in the app at any time, which also removes their photos and their search data.
- Your whole account can be deleted from Settings → Delete Account. This deletes your sign-in credentials and triggers automated deletion of your account record, items, containers, spaces, listings, support conversations, usage counters, and every photo and thumbnail stored under your account.
- Export first if you want a copy. Settings → Export Data produces a CSV of your inventory. Deletion cannot be undone.
- Prefer to ask us? Email info@snapfind.app and we will handle it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to your inventory is enforced by server-side rules, so one account cannot read another's data, and shared spaces are limited to the exact spaces you shared. Internal access to production data is restricted to people who need it to operate the service. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security — but if a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and portability — view your data in the app or the web dashboard, and export it as CSV.
- Correction — edit any item, container, or account detail at any time.
- Deletion — delete individual records or your entire account, as described above.
- Device permissions — camera, photo library, microphone, and notification access can each be revoked in your device settings. The app will keep working with reduced functionality.
- Marketing — unsubscribe from emails using the link in any message; reply STOP to opt out of SMS.
- AI features — turn off individual AI-filled fields in Settings → AI & Automation.
If you are in the EEA or UK: our legal bases are performance of our contract with you (running the app and its AI features), your consent (notifications, SMS, marketing, and device permissions), our legitimate interests (security, diagnostics, and improving the product), and legal obligations. You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
If you are in California: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes beyond providing the service.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@snapfind.app. We will verify your request against your account and respond within the time the law allows.
Children
SnapFind is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it. Where your country requires parental consent for processing a minor's data, we may require that consent before allowing use of the service.
Links to Other Sites
SnapFind may link to sites we do not operate — for example a marketplace where you list an item for sale. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as SnapFind changes. We will post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
